A live-action reimagining of Enma, blending anime iconography with gritty realism and modern design.

An RnD project that helped solidify my current workflow and satisfy my creative cravings.

It all began with a little sculpting fun.

I started by sculpting the sword in ZBrush, focusing on capturing the elegant but aggressive energy of Enma.

My main motif was the flower ornaments present in the original anime design.

Make up and Cameras

Once the sculpt was done, I moved into Substance and Blender to handle lookdev. I created materials that played with contrast rich, weathered gold against deep purples — and lit the stills to emphasize shape, texture, and drama..

Stay still! Or don’t.

The stills were working, but something felt missing. So I pushed further and turned it into a full animated sequence with FX in Houdini, adding pyro simulations and sound design to make the unsheathing moment hit harder.

It became more than a render, it turned into a short, punchy cinematic.

These are some of my favourite key visuals. ⬇️
